Oxford vs. Cambridge

Well, this weekend I visited the other half of the British Scholarly rivals, Cambridge. After a pub night on thursday, me and few friends took the train into Cambridge, which took about 3 hours. We met a cool guy from Israel on the train there, who has a sister at Cambridge and was looking at applying there too. The first thing he said to us when he found out I was from BC was "Is it true that weed is legal there" hahaha. Glad we have such a good international reputation...

Anyways, so we got to Cambridge, and our first stop was lunch. We found a pub with cheap food, wine and beer so figured that was a good place to start. After there we basically just wandered around the city, visiting a lot of the different colleges. Thats the thing thats most different about universities here, they have a bunch of different colleges (like campuses sort of) scattered across the city, that usually specialize in a certain faculty. All the campuses are so beautiful, and we found a building that was built the same year Canada became a country! We spent much of the afternoon looking to find a store with the cheapest cambridge gear, to match our oxford sweaters. Now when we go to the Oxford-Cambridge rowing regatta we can wear whichever sweater is the winning team!! Unfortunately my camera broke right as we got to platform 9 and 3/4 :( so now i have to get a new one.

Anyways, next weekend I'm off to switzerland, so I will be sure to have some good stories after that!

Til next time...
Mel
